355Mon avis en FrançaisMy English reviewAfter a first volume making us discover about Rafe and Cara we now follow the Atlantes brother Darius I admit that I was curious to discover his history as well as learn information about this different kind of peopleI enjoyed learning about Darius and Faith Both have not had much luck in life and their pasts are haunting them in a very different way Darius has to manage the conseuences of his accident his reduced mobility and a wheelchair he must use when he does too much It is a weakness that he hates about and yet he remembers it continually Regarding Faith she has her own demons but not the least She only trusts her stepfather who has always been there for her but relationships with others are not her strong point She is the last of her kind a stone singer and it seems that everyone is trying to manipulate her to use her for their own purposes Do you understand her problem of trust I must say that her history with her ex husband did not help either But now Faith is at the center of a war and every clan wants to defeat the otherI had a lot of fun with this novel Once again we learn about the Atlanteans their origins and even the destruction of Atlantis I admit that I was uite surprised by the result but everything was well done We also learn a little about these two opposed peoples and about their abilities and beliefs But of course there is also the story between Darius and Faith This is not a simple relationship especially as Faith who is uite suspicious We understand perfectly her feelings and despite all the things she is doing for them and although she is present to help the Seers are not necessarily very nice to her except Darius and Cara Yes you heard right Cara is present once again for our pleasure as Rafe and all the others to show us what they had become Yet it is also true that we also learn about Adrian This is a very complex character who hides a lot of things and I was eager to know all his secrets This is not yet the case but the little bits we know makes us even curiousIn conclusion this novel was again a good discovery but it is just beginning between the two characters The war is there and I hope be able to discover the history of Tessa the last sister and Adrian’s soon

I am really loving this world It is such an interesting concept with interesting characters There is a lot to learn about this world and all the different powers but I am glad that the author is slowly introducing the world and history to the readers I can't wait to learn Honestly the first book should be read first due to the backstory This story follows Darius is a Seer who has the ability to feel other people's emotion and Faith who is a Stone Singer They have a lot of issues internally and there is a war that started brewing in the last book I really loved Faith's power It's hard to really explain but I would want her powerexcept I wouldn't want to be the only one left and people are hunting me to wrangle the stones of powerThe only issue with the book was the ending The ending just well ended Sure I want to read the next one but it was so anti climatic and a sad attempt at being a cliff hanger GAH I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT ADRIAN Who are you mysterious man He seems so complex and has a crazy past There was a huge reveal I anticipated something of that nature but it was still a good twist In the end this was a good read I am really liking this world and the characters Can't wait for the next book The ending was a meh but the rest was good I'll stamp this with 4 stars

Faith has a secret Years ago she was forced into an impossible choice use her powers to kill or hand them over to her husband to use Rather than kill those she thought innocent she fought against her husband and accidentally killed him It’s complicated than that howeverYou see Atlantis existed and there were survivors and they all had one of three kinds of magic Seer Channeler and Warrior But the survivors blame each other for its demise and are convinced that killing each other off is the only way to ensure future survival Faith is a channeler with the rare ability to manipulate stone and now everyone wants her to use the three Atlantian stones of power to wipe out their enemiesDarius is a seer gifted with empathic abilities His family has one of the stones of power and need Faith to use her magic and heal it of the impurities it’s collected over the years After a run in with people who want to force her to help them Faith decides to accept Darius’ offer of safety and money so she can get back on her feetSo yeah this is a romance book I should have read the back cover closely but I didn’t and got an eyeful early on with a detailed sex scene As is the case with romance books despite the fantasy setting the story revolves around the main characters’ mutual sexual tension and gives little heed to the plethora of plot holes The set up could really have gone somewhere but it falls dreadfully short and too much is left unexplained although I will grant that Mullins didn’t give annoying infodumps Sure there will be seuels as there are plenty of other young couples who need to get laid but as much as I love a good romance problems with the setting and plot will always trip me up and make it hard for me to believe the love storyAs also with books of this genre there is a lot of drama and since it’s narrated from both Faith and Darius’ points of view we get a lot of repetitive interior monologue as they tell themselves why they shouldn’t get together It isn’t hard to see the potential in a book like this what it could have been but because of the genre it was structured in a way that felt contrived–no natural flow of a real relationship It doesn’t help either that the main characters were a little goofy during the sex scenesThe lore around the stones felt a little too new agey to me Like how ite aids in healing How they use semi precious stones to aid in focusing their magic It all could have worked for me but the way she approached it felt a tad campy Which was too bad because she almost had me believing but she left too much unexplained Another thing not uite right was the prose; for the most part it’s pretty easy reading but it has enough awkward metaphors and one sentence paragraphs for emphasistooo much emphasis that will trip up readersI read HEART OF STONE pretty fast It was a fun read on a cold winter day with a mug of hot chocolate; the story moved uickly and Mullins did her best to worldbuild Unfortunately the limitations of the genre make this story fall short and is what will prevent making this potentially good book appeal to a wider audienceRecommended Age 17 because of sexualityLanguage A mere handfulViolence Yes some fighting butlet’s face it this is a romance book and the fight scenes left much to be desiredSex A couple of very detailed sex scenes

Heart of stone by Debra MullinsThis a romance novel with a fair amount of action Faith and Darius are the main protagonist in this story They are descendants of survivors of the destruction of Atlantis The story is really about their love and how they establish it With the love story is the action and that is the war between the Seers and the Mendukati two opposing groups from the survivors of Atlantis It's the story of love and treachery with uite a bit of action to keep you busyThe steamy scenes put this book into the romantic category but the action and general story are certainly palatable to the male reader No that is not a sexist remark as I said about Prodigal Son that is an observation that most guys won't admit to reading any kind of romantic novel This book struck me of a romantic novel than it's predecessor Prodigal Son I do think it is still a good actionadventureurban fantasy with romantic overtones I recommend it Web site

This was a very inventive tale but on the corny side as far as a romance novel goes Enjoyable read but not sure if I will read any of the other novels
