Dark poetic and heart breaking This is my kind of noir Nik Korpon brings all the power of his short fiction to these longer works and Highly recommended especially to fans of his short story collection BAR SCARS

Gritty Interesting Balti Love Story Flawed yet Relatable Characters Thrilling Noir Depressing Poetic I could go on and on describing Stay Go d Sweet Angel by Nik Korpon in short descriptive phrases but I wont You are immediately roped into the story by introductions to the main characters who despite the fact they are involved in the Balti drug trade are written as truly down to earth characters Being recreational drugalcohol using cenophiles with good taste in music they are totally believable characters that you probably see everyday at Fells Point or in my case maybe U St The fact that I identified so well with Damon Mary and Christian is what made the story all the compelling when it begins to spiral out of control The drugs take hold the relationships complicate or disintegrate and things become violent There are secrets kept by the main character Damon that seem to follow him everywhere he goes and eventually lead to his unraveling I think the ultimate story in Stay Go d is the love story between Damon and Mary Some of the most beautiful and heartbreaking prose written in this novel is that written about Damon's desire to extract Mary from their current circumstance and reset somewhere on a beach Definitely one of the best crime novels I have read this year If you are into Noir love stories and thrillers you can't miss with this book Korpon is to Balti as Pelecanos is to DC or Woodrell is to The Ozarks Did I mention you also get a Novella attached to this wonderful novel? You do

An engaging story of personal disintegration set to a backdrop of drug dealing and deceit This is a collection of two novellas meant to be a single novel but I think the first story STAY GOD is a novel on its own given its breadth and detail and the second story SWEET ANGEL is a novella and of an aside or perhaps b side I think STAY GOD stands on its own and didn't need the epiloguepreuel But a good read all around

35 stars I ended up liking the second story better than the first Nik Korpon's writing has some truly beautiful turns of phrase but Stay God sometimes felt weighed down by all the inside jokes and I wasn't very sympathetic to the character of Michael in either story I do like the way Korpon writes though and I look forward to reading

Loved the poetic writing style and cocaine psychosis of Damon was brilliantly described After all we're all fond of kicking the arse out a wee toot now and then Just felt the story lacked somewhatGuy bumps his dealer and his bird bolts So fuck
