I liked this story a lot The author does a great job of creating an alternative existence where demon hunters attempt to wage war with hell and its denizens but it's done suitably tongue in cheek and with just the right balance of gung ho bravura and all too human foibles particularly when sex gets in the way And the sex scenes are good too My only real criticism is the length of the book which at just 69 pages seems over in a flash although it certainly makes one look forward to the next instalment

This fast paced short story invites you into a world where the unknown and finding love can be a good thing Where becoming a demon hunter can lead you down unknown paths that are both frightening and satisfying but not always in a bad way Hold onto your seat and enjoy the ride into a world that shows you how obstacles can be overcome and the unexpected can lead to good things

Unfortunately this book just didn't work for me I don't really care that much about the few typos I caught like 'heave petting' instead of 'heavy petting' But I just can't ignore that much of the plot and the way the characters behave don't make sense to me Of course it is a paranormal story and I love those but it is important for me that a story makes sense within its own rulesThe Academy in the title made me think there would be some kind of training However Chance wakes up with no memory is shown video footage of his family being brutally murdered and sent on his first mission without his memories or trainingI liked the powers the demon hunters have and thought the way they received them was interesting and new However the demon fighting seemed much too easy while the sex was nice it seemed to create insta love between the MCsWhile I thought it would be irresponsible to send an untrained guy without memories on his first mission the second mission tops that view spoiler They are told not to go into the portal to hell and of course ignore that They knock on the gate to hell and kill the guardian demon without the least bit of trouble As hell's gate is without guardian now they are sent together into hell to map it out Without preparation Alone hide spoiler
