    35 stars Hey I'm the neighbor from upstairs can I borrow some sex? Reeves has rage filling his veins guilt driving his need making him restless and unsettled Nia has guilt flowing through her blood unable to escape her nightmares and her reality But as fate has it it bring these two lost souls together in an unlikely situation where they can hopefully find hope and healing We're just friends good friends with great benefits Benefits in his bed benefits on the counter benefits on the sofa horizontal vertical and my favorite wild rough benefits Every possible damn mind blowing benefit But benefits do remain in friends' territory for us Finding a semblance of peace in each others lives they begin to build a friendship stronger and powerful than any other relationship they ever had Both agreed on nothing than just friends but when the first and last thought of the day is each other it has to be something right? I think I've just fallen deeper in friendship with you My lips crook up and the storm inside me calms a degree to her timid smile You've been in friendship with me? Hopelessly She grins and my lips pull higher They find the best form of escapism in each other building a co dependence that is healing while causing fear of what it would mean to lose everything they have Together they can make each other whole and learn to live with the pain and not let it handicap them any further We need a happy date A date that won't erase the past but let us remember it with acceptance She goes back to her previous point A date that will make my happy beat my sad Retrace is a book about healing and coming to terms with guilt How one person can impact your life so positively you ever wondered how it is you lived without them for so long Nia and Reeve's friendship developed over time while there was an insta attraction and lust the trust and what it takes to make it work and worth it grew over the months It was hard for them to move past the guilt only ever letting each other in enough to not get hurt I enjoyed their story it was a simple read with a whole lotta heart and steam Pleasurable simple recommended read ARC kindly provided by Author Sigal Ehrlich OU via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review uotes above are taken from the ARC version of the book and may differ upon publication

    A pull at your heartstrings sweet and sexy story of two people that find acceptance and love through their sultry friendship Looking to escape her family and a tragic past that haunts her Nia Mitchell moves from Brazil to the US to be a dance teacher Reeves Mitchell left the FBI after he lost his partner and best friend in an undercover operation Full of self loathing anger and guilt he wants revenge but spends most of his time bartending or working as a bodyguard “Hey I’m the neighbor from upstairs can I borrow some sex?” In a nakedly funny twist of fate Reeves and Nia meet and keep bumping into each other Their attraction is instant but their hearts and minds will only allow friendship Until their similar heartbreaking past facilitates an explosively hot friends with benefits relationship Because anything would mean putting their hearts on the emotional line “Her eyes are indeed strikingly beautiful but they seem to be in some perpetual mourning even when she smiles Ironically so just like mine” Even though they have formed a deep connection in which they silently share their pain and find solace and escape in each other they still hold off very much of themselves back “My thoughts wander to how peaceful she makes me feel Her company is so easy I don’t have to fight anything away while with her” But from sunrise to nightfall they can’t stop thinking about each other and being in each other’s orbits The push and pull between them is at times frustrating by their lack of full disclosure but mostly it was full of sweet tender friendship and scorching moments “I think I’ve just fallen deeper in friendship with you” “You’ve been in friendship with me?” “Hopelessly” Their road towards healing and acceptance took time and had some roadblocks mostly of their own making and some provoked by others But the big positive impact they had on one another was beautiful because they found in each other something they weren't looking for but discovered they very much wanted and needed “Our scars and wounds are a great part of who we are And who you are is so amazingly beautiful Without the baggage you bring with you you wouldn’t have been the you I’m totally crazy about” From the very start the double prologues made my heart sueeze with pain for both these tortured souls Reeves is drowning in guilt and we know Nia has lost a loved one which pointed at a probable somber plot But the insta lust is almost immediately followed by an insta kinship which was easy and fun We need a happy date A date that won't erase the past but let us remember it with acceptance A date that will make my happy beat my sad From their smutty scrabble games to the crying jags to their dazzling and swoony romance Sigal Ehrlich gives us a very enjoyable story with a steady pace in which my feelings for this couple grew and deepened just as much as theirs I really liked the Layer’s series and after reading Retrace Sigal Ehrlich has cemented a top place on my reading radarRetrace is a standalone contemporary romance novel Told from both points of view with a happy ending US I was given an ARC of this book courtesy of the author via NetGalley The excerpts are from that copy More reviews Stalk us on FaceBook As well as Twitter Pinterest Board for Book Teasers

    Before I start my review To my buddy Sigal my lovely “kindred spirit” Thanks a bunch for sending over the ARC for Retrace to me I really adore the shit out of you friend” Thank you☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆45 GI Joe Stars “Our scars and wounds are a great part of who we areWithout the baggage you bring with you you wouldn’t have been the you I’m totally crazy about” Two lives forever entwinedOne looking for justice and atonement—Reeves Mitchell is a man torn between revenge duty and honoring the memory of a loved one Former military operative turned FBI agent Reeves witnesses his biggest nightmare come true when an undercover assignment goes wrong and tragedy ensuesNow split between avenging his kin and doing what's right Reeves is an empty shell of what he once was but is loyal to a fault for all those he cares aboutHe is described as devilishly good looking strong and intelligent as well as charming; but completely blind to what's right in front of him☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆And the other looking for absolution a foreign landNia Martins is a Brazilian native looking for a new start in the good US of A She moves into an apartment next door to Reeves’ and works as a dance teacher at a local dance studio where she gets to live out her passion for dance Nia like Reeves holds a calamitous load of grievance on her conscience but keeps her past firmly under wrapsShe is described to be breathtakingly beautiful in the eyes of Reeves' of course kind generous and good natured☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆When these two individuals' paths cross it is pure magic What started as a casual friends neighborly sexual exchange turns out to be something Tensions will rise feelings will be tested And yet will it be enough? Will they be each other’s saving grace into salvation and redemption? Or each other’s path to destruction? And “are they willing to retrace their steps back to where wounded hearts can be broken once ?” Read and you will find out My thoughts I LOVED this story Retrace had a multitude of layers to its story line and characters From dealings of loss guilt self blame and hatred doubt and coming to ends of foreclosure this novel had a deep array of emotions to itWhile I feel Reeves’ anguish and helplessness to help one of the people he loved the most I could immensely feel myself so relating to Nia’s back story as it struck a topic so exactly close to home As much as I would like to go into what that back story entails I can’t It would cause for MAJOR spoilers I can say this though the pain Nia and even Reeves experienced is of the most excruciating type It will never truly go away and the burden will always be there But as time goes on it will lessen and perhaps healmaybe even not I'm still trying to come to terms on that one myself☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Wrap up So over all a compelling sensual yet heart wrenching tale that directly hit the nail for me for what I was looking for in a read It had real life characters and events a couple hilarious and sarcastic moments as well as themes of self discovery new found and even unreuited love new beginnings and letting go of the past and making a go for the futureIt just was the connection to Nia's Brazilian roots is all I just couldn't link her with being from there whatsoever Perhaps if from time to time she expressed herself by speaking Portuguese since that's the official language there every once in a while or maybe ate or made some traditional Brazilian cuisines I may have believed it But sadly no on that respect Everything else was good though I'm now hoping that Jake and Carmie will get their own story I was really curious as to what the heck what going on with them and their uh special relationship So strange yet intriguing Until then my reading buddies so long and fare well “I think I’ve just fallen deeper in friendship with you ;

    After really adoring Sigal’s Layers books I was very much looking forward to this one as she branches out into new adult contemporary romance This is a standalone novel and really uite sweet as we follow Nia newly arrived in the USA from Brazil trying to leave a tragic past behind and make a new life for herself in a new country as a dance teacher Her first meeting with Reeves is NOT one to forget as he catches her with uite literally nothing to hide in a situation that’s highly embarrassing for her and highly entertaining for himShe thinks she will never see him again but it turns out that they’re new neighbours and freuent the same club so their paths are destined to cross And often I did enjoy this but I didn’t really connect with the story of the characters uite as well as I did with the Layers books For a start the truly doom laden dual prologue actually led me to think that it foreshadowed something far darker than I actually found in the pages within and for a while I found myself constantly waiting for something evil and nefarious to creep out of the shadows but what I was actually getting was classic new adult romance – a young couple trying to put traumatic pasts behind them and find love together Once I got my head around this and realised to just go with the budding romance between Reeves and Nia I started to enjoy it far Reeves is a great hero despite his reluctance to commit to than fuck buddies with Nia I really began to adore him and there’s some truly very beautiful and tender scenes in the book and Reeves is every girl’s dream – he’s gorgeous tough alpha and shit hot in the bedroom and he and Nia forge a very beautiful and genuine connection but they’re both reluctant to open up and talk about their feelings and confide in one another about the past which leads to a pretty big misunderstanding and some difficult times ahead for themMy one major niggle with the book has to be Nia – she’s supposed to be a young Brazilian dancer moving to the US to start a new life and not once does she ever come across as anything but a young American There’s very few hints about her speaking another language coming from another culture and she’s fitted into the American way of life seamlessly almost as if she’d grown up there I know it’s only a minor uibble but I really would have like to have seem of the Brazilian side of herBut all in all this is a sweet and enjoyable romance I think I prefer Sigal’s adult stories but if you’re a fan of the new adult romance genre then this will most definitely work for you35 stars

    Complimentary copy received from publisher via Netgalley 35 ★Tender is the first word that comes to mind when I was trying to think of a word to describe Nia and Reeves' story It's a story about healing and moving forward about getting another shot of happiness about trusting your emotions about closure and fresh startIn the beginning I was worried as I found myself only half engaged with the story and I couldn't fully connect with the characters I don't even really know why I'm thinking perhaps it was the way the seuence of events were laid out Maybe? Then I felt that some of the events were just superfluous like the minor scare somewhere in the middle It's as if the characters don't have enough to deal with in their heads Also I wasn't uite getting the degree of angst the characters were going thru nor the undeclared feelings between the 2 at some point But I really wanted to keep reading because I thought the characters were likable enough so I did And I'm glad I did It was nice to see the relationship progress for starter I started appreciating the little things like Scrabble; I started getting the why's and I eventually bought into the emotions I got it Their past made them who they are Their past was no laughing matter They're about issues that are hard to deal with and very sensitive in nature and how to come out of that intact is no small feat The fact that they have become each other's relief escape hope and everything else that's good I think that's just a beautiful thing

    25 Hey I'm the neighbor from upstairs can I borrow some sex? StarsThis book is an absolute hoot although I am pretty sure the author didn't intend it to be that way I hope that the version that is released for purchase has been fully edited and spell checked because to be uite frank I was laughing so hard at points I pretty much lost what was going on in the story As below Spamming Tissues Pretty sure they were spasming but hey what do I know Not long after we ordered in Italian and had it with a couple of wine glasses Were the wine glasses the starter or maybe they work better as dessert Scared the leaving shit out of me Mmmm is that the living I wrap my arms around him and he buries his face above my bare chest heaving heavily She must smell reallllly bad for that to happen And the gold medal winner A very distinctive bugle meets my middle when a mighty eager Reeves lands between my legsUnfortunately as I said the above did detract from the story a bit but if I am honest I struggled to find much of a story to begin with It started out really well we are given a definitive prologue for both characters and their first meeting is unforgettable to say the least Nia and Reeves are both battling demons Reeves we find out about at the beginning of the book Nia's so as their story progresses I could empathise with Reeves somewhat but the big reveal for Nia's past issues was a bit of a let down and I struggled to understand her whole reaction to it and if I am honest I was expecting both of their pasts to actually tie up in some way They pretty much spend the first 75% of the book bouncing off each other like bunnies but vehemently denying they are a couple to then come to the conclusion that actually they are a couple There is a little added drama with Katie Reeve's best friends little sister but it didn't really bring any value to the book on the whole to be honest and the last 15% where both characters deal with their pasts all seemed to just fizzle out I did love the Dual epilogue though it gave their story a pretty decent closureThere's something about Reeve's that put's me at ease that just makes me want to well be next to himTypos aside the writing is good I would read other books from this author without hesitation I was just expecting to be honest I have heard good things about Sigal Ehrlich but Retrace was lacking in any real depth of story line for me to give it than the rating I haveARC generously provided via Netgalley in exchange for the above honest review

    35 Stars Nia and Reeves were two damaged souls with a painful past Nia was trying to start a new life away from Brazil and Reeves was trying to live day by day with guilt and regret There was a lot of steamy moments and they had sex everywhere Somewhere in all the sex they found comfort They also needed to see if they wanted to be than just friends with benefits Retrace was the first book I've read from Sigal Ehrlich The story was enjoyable but nothing really stood out to me The first encounter between the characters was adorable Unfortunately after a few chapters in the story stopped grabbing my attention
