I m a huge Mary Berry fan, but I have to admit not as many recipes appealed to me in this book as I d expected when I ordered it.A lot of the appetizers and desserts look amazing, but the main dishes weren t as compelling as I d hoped Maybe once I start trying a few, I ll change my mind and try .As other reviewers have mentioned, there are a lot of hard to find ingredients for those of us who don t live in the U.K., but that s to be expected for a British cookbook For the most part, easy s I m a huge Mary Berry fan, but I have to admit not as many recipes appealed to me in this book as I d expected when I ordered it.A lot of the appetizers and desserts look amazing, but the main dishes weren t as compelling as I d hoped Maybe once I start trying a few, I ll change my mind and try .As other reviewers have mentioned, there are a lot of hard to find ingredients for those of us who don t live in the U.K., but that s to be expected for a British cookbook For the most part, easy substitutes can be found with the help of Google.Gorgeous photography, and I love the little stories and anecdotes throughout Will update once I ve tried a few recipes

British cookbooks are fun because A I know very well that I m not going to take the trouble to convert the metric measurements to try the recipes and B I learn about things you can apparently just get all the time in the UK, such as quail eggs, runny honey, gammon, and cuts of lamb other than the occasional chops we get here but only at easter Also learned making chutney is like making vegetable jam, which makes me wonder how it s related to vegamite Is vegamite just overcooked chutney that British cookbooks are fun because A I know very well that I m not going to take the trouble to convert the metric measurements to try the recipes and B I learn about things you can apparently just get all the time in the UK, such as quail eggs, runny honey, gammon, and cuts of lamb other than the occasional chops we get here but only at easter Also learned making chutney is like making vegetable jam, which makes me wonder how it s related to vegamite Is vegamite just overcooked chutney that s been mashed What kind of chilli is it in the chutney recipe are all chillis the same in the UK I learn so much from Mary Berry
