November Lake Teenage Detective, Book 1 is an unusual read It is about an eighteen year old girl who is attending an academy to become a police constable in Britain also while he investigates the unsolved murder of her police constable father This first book is a compilation of three novellas entitled Dead Girl in the Room, The Kidnapping at Blackwater Farm and The Menacing Stranger In some ways, November Lake reminds me of a British Veronica Mars.I enjoyed the character of November as w November Lake Teenage Detective, Book 1 is an unusual read It is about an eighteen year old girl who is attending an academy to become a police constable in Britain also while he investigates the unsolved murder of her police constable father This first book is a compilation of three novellas entitled Dead Girl in the Room, The Kidnapping at Blackwater Farm and The Menacing Stranger In some ways, November Lake reminds me of a British Veronica Mars.I enjoyed the character of November as well as the novellas but wished it had been a full blown story instead of mini ones The shorts cause the world building and flow of the read to be choppy, thus my reason for the four stars I hope that book two is an actual novel otherwise I doubt I ll continue with the series

November Lake book 1 is a collection of 3 novella length stories, that take place over the course of a week, with each story taking place just a few days after each other The three novellas are connected by the main Characters, November and Kale, who are young police recruits And each of the stories is its own self contained whodunnit. The stories are entertaining enough but the time frame feels a little unrealistic What are the chances that 2 young recruits would find themselves caught up in November Lake book 1 is a collection of 3 novella length stories, that take place over the course of a week, with each story taking place just a few days after each other The three novellas are connected by the main Characters, November and Kale, who are young police recruits And each of the stories is its own self contained whodunnit. The stories are entertaining enough but the time frame feels a little unrealistic What are the chances that 2 young recruits would find themselves caught up in the middle of 3 crimes in the space of a week especially when they aren t on the job It wont stop me reading November Lake book 2 though

The mysteries were mildly interesting, but the style of writing felt quite clumsy and the dialogue was extremely wooden At one point, a character says in conversation to another character I peered out into the garden, a sharp gasp tearing up out of my throat I m sure it was supposed to be a very tense moment but I just laughed, because who talks like that
