YOWZA If dark, brooding, dominant Alphas trip your trigger, then you are in for a treat when you pick up Turbulent Sea by Christine Feehan This is the sixth book in her series about 7 magical sisters and the special men each find to fulfill her destiny Although the series is not erotica, it s definitely hot enough to keep us horny doggettes happy.Joley is the sister with magic in her voice and she combined that voice with her love for music into a career as the lead singer for a rock band YOWZA If dark, brooding, dominant Alphas trip your trigger, then you are in for a treat when you pick up Turbulent Sea by Christine Feehan This is the sixth book in her series about 7 magical sisters and the special men each find to fulfill her destiny Although the series is not erotica, it s definitely hot enough to keep us horny doggettes happy.Joley is the sister with magic in her voice and she combined that voice with her love for music into a career as the lead singer for a rock band But thesuccessful the band became, theproblems emerged and now she s under threat from several different directions Into that storm steps the man who can either be her dream come true or her worst nightmare.Ilya lives a half life, going through the motions and doing whatever is necessary to stay alive Then he hears HER voice and it s like the sun burning away the shadows on his soul He wants her and he ll have her, but thetime they spend together, the worse the aching hunger gets.I want to BE Joleywith Ilya That man puts the X in sex, and with a foreign accent to boot Although many reviewers gripe about the unrealistic scenarios Christine Feehan uses, I have enjoyed every book in this series Of course, I read books for entertainment, not realitybooks are my escape FROM reality Maybe that s why I enjoy her writing so much Her characters have to learn to trust each other and work together, and I like that They may be very attracted to each other, but they don t jump into bed unless and until it meansthan just a casual horizontal tango I like that The women are strong altho Joley can be a mite too argumentative at times , and I like that The men may be brooding Alphas, but they ll do whatever is needed to protect and make their woman happyand I love that.I do think this book hasheft to it than the last couple in this particular series, both length and plot wise The answers aren t necessarily easy or quick and the mystery is cagier I didn t pick out all the bad guys right away and there were times I even wondered about Ilya So if you ve stayed away from this series because of other reviews, you may just want to give this book a try I know I m on pins and needles since I already know who the lead characters for the next book will be and I ve been waiting for their story for a couple of years now It s titled Hidden Current and her website says it s scheduled for release in the summer of 2009 It s already on my list

I must admit that I loved the Ghostwalkers books muchthan this one I think it was because I am not enad with fictional subjects about celebrity The elements pertaining to Joley s world wide stardom as a rock singer seemed to overshadow the narrative in this book I wonder if Ms Feehan has a favorite female singer who inspired her to write this story and to model Joley after I wouldn t be surprised if the answer is yes It was a very good story If I hadn t read and fell for the Gho I must admit that I loved the Ghostwalkers books muchthan this one I think it was because I am not enad female singer who inspired her to write this story and to model Joley after I wouldn t be surprised if the answer is yes It was a very good story If I hadn t read and fell for the Ghostwalkers books first, I would probably have loved itBut since they were my first exposure to Feehan s writing, I can t help but like this one less I know it s wrong to judge this book based on another set of books, but the bar has been set very high.Things I loved about this book 1 Ilya Ilya Ilya I am so in love with Russian heroes and he s a yummy one, the poster child for Hot Russian Hero He is dangerous with a capital D Very enigmatic and mysterious, and devastatingly gorgeous I loved the fact that he saw Joley and had to have her I thought it was so cool that he heard her singing at a really dark moment in his life, and bonded with her He bought all her records, but then he had to see her in real life It was over for him at this point I know he kills without remorse, but he kills really bad people Morally speaking, murder is wrong, but I think that there are circumstances where killing is justifiable And the people he killed were the scum of the earth I got glimpses into his past, but I wanted to knowabout his training as a child I hope that this is revealed in the next book Anyway, I loved the hero so much in this book.2 The close bond that Joley has with her sisters I have a sister that I would die for She is my best friend and we are very close So I identified very closely with this 3 Joley s warm, generous heart She is a very kind, caring person She went out of her way to help and to be there for others 4 Joley s love of music and all of the musical motifs and themes in this book I love music very much I sing out loud and hear music in my head I have very limited musical ability although I learned how to play the clarinet and the guitar But all the same, I feel that music is in my soul I really identified with that about Joley It was so cool that people had different songs to Joley depending on their emotional state Ilya was her soulmate in the sense that he also saw this in people.5 The interaction between the characters I feel that this is a strength of Ms Feehan as a writer In the seven books I have read by her, she is dead on in the portrayal interpersonal relationships She has the intimacy that is present between good friends and loved ones That is one of the things I loved about the Ghostwalker books and it is present in this one I loved the connection between Ilya and Joley and the mark he put on her and how it was used.6 I loved the seventh son seventh daughter destiny thread It was pretty cool and funny when Joley found out the implications of it Let me say I wouldn t mind being Joley if I could have Ilya Although I have no desire to be a world renowed singer I like my privacy way too much.7 Brian s situation It was pretty neat to have that storyline I enjoyed it a lot I am sorry that things didn t go better, but in a way the tragedy of it was beautifully done 8 The fact that the Drake sisters abilities weren t played as a heavily pagan sort of thing I don t know what religion they are, but it wasportrayed in this book as their legacy and not based on pagan beliefs I don t have anyting against pagan beliefs, but I don t really enjoy when it is shoved down the readers throats In my opinion, this is just as preachy as Christianity being shoved down the throat of a reader who is non religious. What I didn t like As I said earlier, I found the celebrity stuff tedious I have been known to watch E Network and scan the tabloids, but I just don t care for it in a romance novel It was an integral part of the plot, and it had to be since Joley is famous But I d rather see apersonal story or a story with the couples on the run and spending lotsprivate time together Joley did have private time with Ilya, but not as much as I wanted I also didn t like the depictions of the dark side of fame the drugs, the illicit and improper sexual situations, the stalkers Practically each band member had to deal with issues along these lines or suffered the consequences of it I still didn t get what Logan s deal was He didn t have to do what he did to his wife Tish Something good came out of it, but I don t know if I am good enough like Tish was to forgive him I d love the baby though I d kick Logan to the curb and just keep Lissa Good thing I m not Tish. All and all, this was an enjoyable book I would like to read the other books, and I am looking foward to Elle s book in particular This Jackson guy sounds way up my alley

Joley Drake, rock star sensation, has been growing a little fed up with her life of late Despite the carefree picture she paints of herself, she craves for normality and a life away from the many secrets and Joley is one of them When he first heard her voice, she brought light into his barren world Joley Drake, rock star sensation, has been growing a little fed up with her life of late Despite the carefree picture she paints of herself, she craves for normality and a life away from the limelight She hides her true feelings from everyone, including her sisters, but she cannot hide them or herself from the one man she knows should keep her distance from.Ilya Prakenskii is a man of many secrets and Joley is one of them When he first heard her voice, she brought light into his barren world of darkness and shadows And when he saw her for the first time in Oceans of Fire , he s known she was his destiny. When someone starts to send Joley warnings in the form of murdered members of her crew, she has no one to turn to but Ilya Ilya with his mesmerizing voice, hypnotic eyes, dark aura, and an inexplicable power over her senses Ilya, whose song merges with hers in a perfect harmony But as she seeks his protection, is she really safe, or has she given her heart and soul to a man who would destroy her I have one word for this book FINALLY After years of waiting and speculating just what might be brewing between these two, we finally got our answers And those answers are scorching hot A leading man just doesn t get better than Ilya Prakenskii An impassive face that hides deep turmoil, icy veneer over a white hot volcano And the fact that we don t really know whose side he s on merely ads to his allure We, despite the clues and hints dropped in the previous books, are as clueless as his true nature not his intentions toward Joley, those couldn t beclear _ and motivations as Joley is And, as Joley, we re unable to resist him, no matter the darkness, no matter the shadiness, no matter anything and everything. No wonder they all say girls are attracted to the bad boy Well, yeah, it must be the nurturing gene We can t help but see a lost boy underneath the facade and we want to help, want to heal, just like Joley wanted to help and heal the little boy she sometimes glimpsed literally in Ilya. And although this was supposed to be her book, she paled in comparison to her Russian hottie He stole the show he did that in every scene he appeared in this series, and merely took her along for the ride.To be honest, I didn t really understand the girl Which makes sense, since she didn t get herself either She had no idea what she really wanted, making her jump all over the place She d spent most of the book brooding about the fact she was attracted to bad, dominant guys, knowing she could never be with someone kind and gentle, because she d be the one to stomp all over the poor guy She was attracted to domineering guys, apparently it had something to do with the dark secrets in her soul, which were never explored or if they were and it was simply the fact she wanted someone to take charge of her in bed, the secret was beyond lame , while hating them for their domineering ways all the same She kept pushing Ilya away for only one valid reason she didn t know if he was bad or not, while feeling he wasn t evil , and plenty of idiotic ones that had nothing to do with him and everything to do with her, while throwing herself at him all the time, sulking if he rejected her because he wanted everything and not just a part of her. While I can say I empathized with her a little, and her reluctance was understandable to a point, her erratic behavior where Ilya was concerned quickly grew old and repetitive Although the issue was resolved somewhere in the middle thanks to some finger burning pages of sex ooh, boy , and the second time a little later, also thanks to some finger burning pages of sex ooh, boy.I loved the destined mark, and the hand thing should definitely be put on the pro side of the list, seeing how handy it was working both ways And I adored the little twist in the end with Ilya s bloodline and legacy Lovely, funny, and sweet. And the ending, with the Drake house recognizing him and welcoming him home, offering a home to someone who s never had oneJuts plain heart melting.Yet, there were problemsQuite big ones As much as I loved this story for its growing relationship and romance between Ilya and Joley, these two people made for each other, yet so very much alike, they tried to keep some little part of themselves separate and failed miserably, I cannot overlook the somewhat absurd plot moving devices and sub plots this book offered us They were missing girls, a murder, a battle for supremacy between criminal clans, a crazy stalker with a penchant for broken bottles, and a gay head of the Russian mafia.I just kept rolling my eyes at all the fillers and red herrings Yes, I understand Joley had to be in danger for Ilya to be with her as her bodyguard, but still Was that the best Ms Feehan could come up with Compared to the previous books, some of the plot elements were rather laughable But maybe that s just me.The action scenes were superb, though, as always

Ever since Ilya Prakenskii was introduced as a secondary character in this series and possible love interest for Joley that I have been convinced that their book would be one of my favourites I love mysterious bad boys with a dangerous aura and Ilya, from the first, seemed exactly one of that kind.I have realised that in my latest reviews of the series I have been somewhat remiss in mentioning the Drake sister s powers and how that influences their stories The truth is that sometimes I think F Ever since Ilya Prakenskii was introduced as a secondary character in this series and possible love interest for Joley that I have been convinced that their book would be one of my favourites I love mysterious bad boys with a dangerous aura and Ilya, from the first, seemed exactly one of that kind.I have realised that in my latest reviews of the series I have been somewhat remiss in mentioning the Drake sister s powers and how that influences their stories The truth is that sometimes I think Feehan goes a bit overboard in the magic department and since I tend to ignore what I don t like I just review them as contemporaries and that s that It helps that they do live in a contemporary world and their most used powers are the knowledge that one of them may not be well and telepathy Each has individual powers but they are only called into action when needed. It s not as easy to ignore them in this story What makes Ilya so interesting is the fact that he has powers much like the Drake sisters, in fact as the story progresses we realise he alone may have almost all of her powers That is what enables him to make such an easy contact with Joley using telepathy whenever he wants and what allowed him to mark her as his a scar in her hand that burns wheneverThe problem is that for a time it seems that Ilya may well be one of the bad guys He is the bodyguard of a notorious Russian mobster and it is undeniable that he has killedthan his share of people at his boss s orders This leaves all the sisters nervous as well as Jonas, Hannah s husband and the usual male protector the girls have Especially as Joley, a superstar singer yes Feehan also goes overboard with the kind of jobs she gives the sisters usually attracts the wrong kind of male attention Her power is precisely that with her voice she can attract, convince people to do what she wants.A big part of the book is devoted to Joley and her band s life style, the problems with groupies and drug abuse and to a possible human trafficking ring that may have abducted a young girl who was a fan of the band I must confess that I was not as interested in this as in knowingabout Ilya and in that Feehan does not disappoint He may be brooding and mysterious but in this book he is clear and direct, he wants Joley He has always been alone, having been raised to be a sort of super spook spy and his current job is part of an undercover operation Although this somehow reassures the Drake s there is still the problem, or mystery, of his powers and what he really is I really enjoyed knowing that and I m looking forward to know evenabout it as it seems a new series is already in the works I can t really say muchwithout it being a spoiler but I guess it s no news that by the end of the story Ilya is accepted by everyone even though had to fight her sisters a bit in the beginning to make it so.Joley and Ilya do make an interesting pair even if Joley does take a bit too long before trusting him It can t be easy to put your trust in a possible Russian mobster but once the truth about him was revealed I think it washer fears of commitment especially to such a determined alpha male that took centre stage. It has occurred to me that fans of Anne Stuart s Ice series may well enjoy this book although Ilya ends up being a much lighter character than Bastian and his friends Grade 4.5 5
