It was packed with mystery and kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out if everything would have come together in the endRoxanne She is very naïve when it came to Edgarhe was able to trick her and she not realize it till it was too late But she escapes and by some fate and miracle she is picked up by Julian As she settles into life with Julian and his staff she becomes comfortable maybe a little too comfortable She lets her guard down and in doing so is thrown back into the path of EdgarJulian He is very blind when it comes to people's flaws and deceit But by chance he gets his miracle in the form of Roxanne But just as he started to come to his senses she is taken Although he swears to get her back he runs into a roadblock named EdgarOverall its a good story I just wish it had an epilogueTill next time Sweets Books

Julian Trevallon twelfth Earl of Pennington is in a fix A clause in his late Great Uncle Oswald’s will stipulates that Julian can only inherit his great uncle’s fortune if he marries The will is even specific – the dishy earl must marry at midnight on the eve of his thirtieth birthday and must remain married for at least six months He has no desire to wed but in dire need of money to save his own family estate Julian now faces an agonising dilemma What is he to do? A serendipitous roadside encounter with a beautiful stranger Roxanne Chesney whom he rescues when she is feeling the clutches of a villain by the name of Edgar Doyle may just provide him with a solution to his problemA marriage of convenience would seem to be the answer and the earl suggests this idea to the beautiful Roxanne his house guest while she recuperates from her recent ordeal There is only one slight flaw in the plan one that she omits to share with Julian – the lady may already be married It’s clear that the road ahead will be littered with obstacles for the hero and heroine Adventure misadventure trials and tribulations aplenty chance encounters and moments of pure comedy abound as the plot unfolds all adding up to a story that is a perfect mix of romance mystery and mayhem The characters are delightful the dialogue witty and the villain of the piece is truly vile through and through As with all good tales of romance the problems are eventually resolved love wins out in the end and the baddy gets his comeuppance – a satisfactory conclusion all round

Married at Midnight is filled with secrets and lies in the joyous world of the Regency Romance scandal Here author Arabella Sheraton takes on the popular romance trope of the marriage of convenience when Julian the young Earl of Pennington risks losing his inheritance if he fails to marry by a certain age Enter Roxanne who has plenty of secrets up her sleeve but she is sorely tempted by the Earl’s offer and indeed the man himself So begins a charming and witty journey through the trials and tribulations of another Regency heroine who can’t help but get herself into trouble One of the things I most liked about this particular episode of the authentic regency works of Sheraton was the plot construction itself which places plenty of obstacles to love and yet still delivers a fully satisfying story in a relatively short amount of pages I really enjoyed all the characters and their various faux pas but the plot really got going for me whenever Edgar Doyle was on the scene What a hilarious moustache twirling villain he turned out to be There was so much wry humour and satirical charm in his dialogue and presentation that I couldn’t get enough of him or stop smiling when he was on the scene causing trouble I’m so pleased to have found this fantastic homage to the original regency genre filled with all its realistic melodrama and suspense as the romance pans out Another superb work can’t wait to read
