Juu is not one of my favorite authors from Myanmar not by a long shot I find most of her books far from reality and her characters elite But this book her debut novel is uite different from her later works A Mhat Ta Ya is a lovely and touching tale of A girl who was dumped by her boyfriend because she's too ah indepedent The plot is simple yet beautifully written and the uotes are tearjerker for those softhearted including me So a 5 star rating for me A must read

A girl I know borrowed this book from the library and she said she was tired out by all the usage of maung ေမာင္ words in the book She asked me to give it a try as well I didn't know that this was the debut novel of the author until I saw the older reviews So anyway here we goIt was such a uick read Either the story was short or since it was written in my native language I finished the book in a couple of hours I did not have any problem with the writing It was very descriptive and the book made me want to go to Mandalay and visit all those places mentioned in it But I did have a problem with the characters The main female character was an educated young woman who was also open minded understanding and non conventional The male character sounded like a douche bag who was sexist old fashioned controlling and had a bad temper It made me cringe every time the male MC said something as to control what the female MC wore or who she hung out with etc But the female character was so hopelessly in love with the guy that she worshiped him She put up with all those treatments in the name of love roll eyes Since I've read books like Why Men Love Bitches I couldn't stop thinking throughout the book that this character was definitely the nicest of the nice girls from WMLB view spoilerEven when he was two timing her she couldn't even get mad She even nonchalantly sat at their table and paid for what they ate because she knew he'd be broke hide spoiler

Read this long time ago coz my crush liked this book a lot 😅 well anyway at least this was my first book of the author not very fond of the characters coz they seem too weak but the dialogues are not bad

My first Burmese fiction and I fell in love with the way it's written The love story from the perspective of the main lady was so tragic yet beautiful But oh how I dislike the male character and his toxic masculinity Their love was never going to work because she is truly herself and her မောင် could never accept her for who she truly is Nevertheless I love this sorrowful love story and the way she recounted their love story
