Three short but pretty nice stories set in the Wild West, targeted rather at younger readers. All three stories are connected by the main character Belle Starr She wasn t endowed with any special depth or even outstanding cunning But as the main character, she doesn t irritate even the adult reader However I m not interested enough to follow her further adventures For a book written in the first half of the 1980s, Belle seems quite contemporary There is not much sexism in here either. The p Three short but pretty nice stories set in the Wild West, targeted rather at younger readers. The plot is fine It doesn t get boring, but it doesn t surprise you either Because the book is directed at the younger or less attentive reader, everything is explained very precisely, simply than necessary, without leaving room for even the slightest guesses The scheme usually looks like this first we see one of the final scenes chronologically, and then we go back to how it all began and we get extremely detailed explanations Maybe a little too detailed for me, but it is not such a problem again.Probably the strangest thing is the footnotes This is the only thing that really disturbed me and distracted me I am a person who likes to read footnotes and read them simultaneously with the main thread And here is plenty of them and they are all in styleon this subject in this and this book, or a story about how X met Y and they did this or that you will find in these books It s irritating Especially since it often reveals some details of the adventures of these characters including the death of one of the important characters This is probably the most annoying thing in this book.Apart from this, it is a simple and nice book If I was 10 or 12 years old, I d like to take it with me on vacation
