The story although somewhat interesting became very confusing with so many characters involved and various plots and sub plots taking place The ending was not really satisfying for nothing was really resolved and all the deaths appear to have been pointless This addition to the series regarding Geoffrey Mappestone was a disappointment

Typical Mappestone tale that kept me reading right along Seems like the end of the series unless another is in the works Too bad if no new ones Would like of his wife Hilde in future adventures if any

This is a very entertaining novelwritten by Susanna Gregory under the name of Simon Beaufort Like the other books in the series the main character is Sir Geoffrey Mappestone ex crusader and sleuthThere are the usual murders and mysteriesweird characters and humour In this book the plot is possibly a bit thinner than in the others that I have readbut I still rate it above averageand a good read

  5. Georgia Lengyel Georgia Lengyel says:

A very good plot This book was published in 2010 Will this be the last in the series? Hope not

  6. Kel Kel says:

A very decent mystery set in the early reign of Henry I Layers upon layers of mystery intertwine everyone had hidden motives except for the main character just trying to deliver his letters
