This book was a fascinating history of the Civil War from the Southern perspective Written in 1950 by several scholars of Southern history it brings interesting and thought provoking perspective to events of the era It captivated me with its perspective that the South could have easily won the war if A B C or D had happened It also provides a Southern excoriation of Jefferson Davis which I'd never fully appreciated If you're looking to expand your perspective of the Civil War this is a good reference
